The Junk Drawer
This space has always fascinated me. I understand its role as a catch-all and empathize with how things just seem to "end up" there, but I've never been able to fully grasp its purpose.
Most of the time, we toss items into this drawer and promptly forget about them. While it does alleviate the stress of having random objects cluttering the kitchen counter, giving them a temporary home in the drawer makes us feel productive. At least we've put it somewhere, right?
I'm a firm believer that "out of sight, out of mind" holds true for most of us. We rarely remember what we've thrown into this drawer. It's like a bottomless pit, a vortex. You bought batteries, didn't you? But where did you put them? With no time to search, you end up buying more and avoiding the headache. Meanwhile, the drawer silently fills up with duplicates of things you already have, sinking further into the abyss.
There are tools available to reclaim these bottomless pits, leading to a clearer mind and better spending habits.
What's in your junk drawer?
